What the Customer Needed

The homeowner had recently moved into a home in the Chaffee Crossing area of Fort Smith and needed a full backyard privacy fence for two reasons: containment for dogs, and privacy from the neighboring properties behind the house. They wanted a traditional cedar look — not vinyl — and needed a double-drive gate wide enough for a riding mower.

The yard had a slight slope along the back fence line, requiring racked panel installation to follow the grade cleanly without unsightly gaps at the bottom.

What ACE Fence Installed

• 6-foot cedar board-on-board privacy fence: Traditional vertical picket style with alternating boards for full privacy coverage. Cedar naturally resists rot and insects — no pressure treatment needed for above-ground applications.
• Double-drive gate (10-foot opening): Two 5-foot cedar gate panels hung on heavy-duty galvanized hinges with a drop rod for the stationary panel and a gravity latch on the active panel. Wide enough for a riding mower or utility vehicle.
• Walk gate (36-inch opening): Single cedar walk gate on the side yard for foot traffic access without using the double drive gate.
• Racked panel installation on the slope: The back fence line followed a grade change of approximately 8 inches. ACE Fence racked the panels to follow the slope rather than stepping them, maintaining a consistent bottom clearance across the entire fence line.
• All posts set in concrete: 4x4 cedar posts set in concrete to a depth appropriate for Fort Smith's soil conditions and 6-foot fence height.
