What the Customer Needed
A Fort Smith industrial property owner needed a full perimeter replacement after their aging residential-spec fence failed at multiple post locations following a severe storm. The original fence used residential post sizing and spacing — not appropriate for a commercial industrial perimeter.
Requirements: commercial-spec installation with proper post gauge, 6-foot height plus barbed wire topper for deterrence, and a cantilever slide gate wide enough for semi-truck access on the primary driveway entry.

- 9-gauge galvanized chain link: Commercial-grade 9-gauge wire — significantly heavier than the residential 11-gauge the previous fence used. Harder to cut, harder to deform, longer lifespan under commercial conditions.
- Commercial post sizing: 2-inch schedule 40 terminal posts and 1-5/8-inch line posts — commercial spec. All posts set in concrete to the appropriate depth for Fort Smith's clay soil and 6-foot fence height with barbed wire load.
- 3-strand barbed wire topper: 45-degree outrigger arms with 3 strands of 12.5-gauge barbed wire above the fence line — standard security topper for Fort Smith commercial and industrial properties.
- 20-foot cantilever slide gate: Cantilever slide gate (no bottom track) for the primary truck entry — 20-foot opening to accommodate semi-trailer access. Counterbalanced to open smoothly under heavy use.
- Commercial gate hardware: Heavy-duty commercial gate hinges, latch, and drop rod. All hardware is galvanized for outdoor use. Gate framework is heavier gauge than the perimeter fence to handle repeated use.

After a moderate storm, multiple line posts failed because they weren't deep enough or heavy enough for a commercial perimeter.
