What the Customer Needed
The homeowner had an existing ornamental iron perimeter fence and needed a matching driveway entry gate with automatic access control. Key requirements: the gate had to match the existing fence aesthetic, the opening had to be wide enough for large trucks and equipment, and they wanted a coded keypad so visitors could enter without the owner being home — plus remotes for family members.
The driveway had a slight uphill grade from the street, which required careful consideration of gate clearance and operator arm geometry to ensure smooth, reliable operation.
What ACE Fence Installed
- Custom ornamental iron dual swing gate: Two 7-foot gate panels creating a 14-foot total opening. Gate design matched the existing perimeter fence with spear-top pickets and matching horizontal rails. Powder-coated matte black to match.
- Heavy-duty gate posts and concrete: Gate posts are significantly larger gauge than line fence posts — engineered to handle the weight and leverage of two full gate panels swinging open and closed repeatedly over years of use.
- Swing gate operators (pair): Bobby, ACE Fence's senior gate technician, installed a matched pair of residential swing gate operators — one per gate leaf. Smooth, reliable, quiet operation.
- Keypad entry column: Coded entry keypad mounted at driver's window height on the driver's side of the driveway. The homeowner can give visitors a gate code without being home.
- Remote controls (4): Four remotes included — one for each family vehicle plus a spare. Compatible with the operator for direct open/close at vehicle approach.
- Safety loop detectors: Exit loop detector embedded in the driveway apron prevents the gate from closing on a vehicle that hasn't fully cleared the gate opening.
Access Control Options for Residential Driveway Gates
Depending on your security needs and lifestyle, ACE Fence can configure residential driveway gate access with:
Coded Keypad
Enter a code at driver's window height. Multiple codes assignable for family and trusted visitors.
Remote Controls / Clickers
One-click open for authorized vehicles. Compatible with most major gate operators.
RFID / Proximity Fob
Tap a key fob against the reader — no code needed. Good for households with frequent visitors.
Smartphone App
Open and close the gate from a smartphone. See gate status, receive open/close notifications, and let in guests remotely.
Intercom System
Visitor presses button at gate, homeowner answers from phone or intercom inside. See the visitor, buzz them in.
Loop Detector (exit)
Gate opens automatically when a vehicle approaches from inside — no button needed to exit.
